Monday 15th June brought the long-awaited reopening for many businesses across the UK. If your business is feeling a little apprehensive about opening doors to your workers and customers, there is lots of useful advice available on how to do it safely.

  1. First and foremost you must complete your Covid-19 risk assessment. All businesses have to ensure they have established the risks and took all necessary steps to minimise them. Follow the guidance from HSE when completing yours
  • As mentioned in one of our previous blog entries, there is a specific guidance available for different sectors, including for those working inside of people’s homes. You can find all relevant links here.
  • Consider bringing some of your staff back part-time from furlough. You may not be ready to get back to your usual opening times right from the start so this could be a sensible move to “test the water” and get you moving in the right direction. Here’s more on part time furloughing which will be available from 1st July here .
  • If you are worried about the additional costs associated with reopening your business safely, and so far you have managed without any financial assistance, now could be a good time to consider applying for one of the government backed loans. If you feel that this is something that your business could really benefit from right now, take a look at one of our previous blogs which focused on highlighting the differences between Bounce Back Loans and Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme here.

Once you are ready, don’t forget to download the “Staying Covid-19 Secure” posters which you can display in your window. This will help to reassure your customers that your business is providing a safe environment for workers and customers.  Find it here.
